Information for First Time Visitors

Whether you are a vacationing visitor, full time or part time resident of the area, you are warmly welcomed to worship with our congregation. The following is offered to help orient you for your first visit.  We look forward to meeting you!   

Location and Directions

The Church is located at 12099 County Road 99, Lillian, AL, 36549.  That is near the Perdido Bay bridge, just southwest of the intersection of Highway 98 and County Road 99.  Navigate via Google Maps using this link.

Service Times

We gather for weekly worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.   There are additional services throughout the year for special days of the liturgical calendar and services for healing and comfort. 

Service Details

We follow the liturgy for Holy Eucharist Rite II as outlined in The Book of Common Prayer.  If you don't know what that means, no problem!  You can follow along in the detailed Sunday bulletin.  You are welcome engage with worship to the extent you feel comfortable, including receiving Holy Communion.

Hymns are from The Hymnal 1982.  They are led by our Director of Music and are accompanied by a small choir, organ, piano and occasional other instruments. 

Services last about an hour, and are followed by social time with coffee and baked goodies.

Church Culture

Sunday service is relaxed and friendly.  Dress is informal with people in shorts as well as coats and ties. Everyone and every style are welcome. 

We believe there is no place for politics in the Christian faith; our services are a welcoming place of worship, comfort and fellowship for all.

Children

Young people are delightedly welcomed at The Episcopal Church of the Advent.  We offer children's gift bags with activities related to Jesus' teachings to keep your little ones entertained and engaged.

Arriving at Church

You can expect to be greeted at the door by an usher.  Let him or her know that you are a visitor, and they'll give you a bulletin, answer your questions and ask you to sign the visitors book.   In that entry you will find tables with information about church and community programs and events.

There is no assigned seating.  Take any seat and enjoy the musical prelude that begins a few minutes before service time.
